FRAMO COURSE UPDATE

NTC-M is pleased to announce the revision and upgrade of its FRAMO training program.

A new FRAMO course at NTC-M has been developed. The course is essentially a merging of the existing FRAMO Advanced Courses (FRAMO III and FRAMO V) and relatively conforms to the training structure being implemented in Norway.

In full support to the FRAMO training aim of safeguarding efficient operation of the pumping system, faster turnaround time and reduced maintenance and operational costs, the structure of the course is focused on the current and highly-utilized FRAMO systems onboard. It will be deployed with new Power Pack and Control System training equipment.

The emphasis of course instruction still revolves on system description, operation, and maintenance & repairs in line with the following training agenda:

  • Pumping Theory & Principles
  • FRAMO Hydraulic System
  • Oil Cleanliness and Filtration
  • Control Valves
  • Submerged Cargo Pumps
  • Cargo Pump Operation
  • Portable Pumps, Ballast Pumps, Tank Cleaning Pumps, and Bow Thrusters

The course duration is five (5) days and consists predominantly of technical and practical training governing these tasks:

  • Correct operation during discharging, stripping, tank washing and cargo heating
  • Trouble shooting and maintenance of the main components in the system
  • Hands-on training on main components, such as: Cargo pumps, control valves,
    relief valves, etc.

Consequently, this FRAMO course shall supersede the FRAMO III and FRAMO V courses. Awaiting the installation of new and additional training equipment, this new course is expected to run on June 2009 and is planned to be scheduled on a weekly-basis. Course contribution for NSA member is USD 570 while USD 627 for non-NSA member.
